G2 Photo - by Gary Goldsmith

Brilliantly photographed color images gracing private homes, restaurants, corporate offices, banks, galleries, and museums are the very hallmark of Gary Goldsmith’s fine art skill.

From his studio in the venerable Berkshire mountains of western Massachusetts, Gary creates photographs that have delighted and awed viewers all over the world. His work was inspired by his experience as chief buyer for the delicacies division of Bloomingdale’s flagship department store in Manhattan. Gary was also instrumental in the opening of Macy’s “Cellar,” the gourmet food market respected by food lovers worldwide.

This exposure to gourmet food and its presentation led directly to Gary’s considerable aptitude for photographing fruit, vegetables and fine dining. “The lectures and classes I attended at the International Center of Photography in New York City were the catalysts that ended my initial devotion to black and white photographs and introduced me to my lifelong fascination with pure color imagery. By ‘pure,’ I mean images that are never enhanced by mere darkroom techniques. What each viewer of my work experiences is what I perceive myself in my camera’s viewfinder just before I touch its shutter release.”

Gary Goldsmith’s fascination with natural beauty and textures affected his photography from his earliest attempts. Today, his images of fruit and vegetables and other produce are so vivid they look “good enough to eat.”

Concentrating on fine art color photography prompted Gary to travel widely―across America and Europe. Besides food, Gary’s meditative images of landscapes, farmhouses, flowers and nature in all its complexity offer viewers another perspective on his work and influence it deeply. From the towers of Manhattan to the North Fork Long Island farmlands, from the lush vineyards of Napa Valley to the limestone vistas of Provence and his beloved soft-shouldered Berkshires, Gary has recorded nature’s bounty with its beauty gloriously intact.

When customizing his art, Gary collaborates easily with interior designers, architects, kitchen planners and restaurant consultants to achieve mutually satisfying images that can promote and decorate their surroundings. Owing to this artistic impact, Gary’s work embellishes any environment where it is displayed. Many of his photographs are best expressed in large-scale formats that show well even in the grandest of settings.

Besides his corporate clients, Gary Goldsmith’s photographs are treasured in private homes throughout the United States and Canada, as well as Europe. He anticipates significant gallery and museum exhibits in the near future. Recently, Gary’s photographs were included in a traveling exhibit sponsored by FujiFilm and in a gallery show in the Berkshires.
